I’m working all week …. but, i’m working out of the Shinjuku office so my travel for the day is a 12 minute walk each way instead of 1.5hrs by train and bus … so it’s like a holiday … then come Thursday and Friday i plan to work from home so that will be better again.

Like Neil, I’ll be working all week. I did manage to score Thursday off to visit some of Reiko’s friends … but that’s about it. Since none of the Obon days are national holidays, my employer isn’t shutting down.

Oh well … I’ll make more money this way

Sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you - there’s no reason you shouldn’t give it a shot as long as the weather holds, keep a careful watch for deteriorating conditions, and get to shelter well *before* a storm hits (even if that means giving up the summit). Good luck!

I have to work throughout the week, but I did go to my wife’s hometown this past weekend. That was nice.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to Japan this summer. It seems like I only ever have time to go in December. Anyways, I’m going to the next best thing, San Francisco. I’m hoping the trip will somehow cure my Japan-sickness.

I really like the idea of climbing Mt. Fuji during a storm with a bunch of other people, sounds kinda dangerous, but I really want to do it someday.

I climbed it in the rain. I’m glad I did it, but it was pretty miserable at the time.

I’m attempting to chill out at home. Last week, I tackled the “Fuji of the East”, Tsukuba Mountain. Tsukuba is not nearly as high, and the air is a bit fresher and cooler up there, making for a nice hike.

Went to Tokyo Imperial East Garden which is a 15-min. walk only from the Tokyo Station. It’s a nice historical place to visit if you’re ineterested in Japan’s history, gardens and nature. I thought that only few will go there but was surprised that there were so many people went there especially foreigners whom I thought (forgive me for saying this) not ineterested in Japan’s history and everything about it.:) I’m [lanning to visit there again if time permits. I went to Shizuoka Ken too to visit my family. Time to bond again:) Today, I’ll be going back to Fukushima Ken for work. A bit sad coz I’ll be alone again and far from my family. Well, that’s life. And, if you guys out there have time next week, Aug. 23, there will be fireworks festival in Sukagawa Shi, Fukushima Ken. It’s one of Japan’s most grandeous and beautiful fireworks display. That’s why, I never fail to watch it every year. Please do com e and visit if you have time.
